Midwest Mission Distribution Center
The Midwest Mission Distribution Center (MMDC) is located on an eight-acre campus in Chatham, Illinois, just south of Springfield. Although related to the Illinois Great Rivers Conference, it attracts volunteers and workers from a broad geographic area. Disaster relief materials are shipped to areas recovering from floods, fires, tornadoes and hurricanes in the United States, while humanitarian aid has been sent to over 26 foreign countries. Several St Andrew parishioners have spent time at the center performing such services as preparing kits, grooming the grounds, installing utilities, to mention just a few. Anyone over 11 years of age can volunteer, but the usual pattern is to have couples or teams spend one or more days on site. A modern dormitory and a full hook-up RV site are available for overnight stays.
